You have now spend 5-6 hours at the dealership, an hour finding the vehicle on the lot, 3-4 hours negotiating the purchase of your new vehicle and another hour in the Business Finance Office signing all the paperwork. You just want to get in your new vehicle and drive away.
Hold on partner! You have another 15-20 minute task … inspecting your new vehicle one more time.

Dealerships will normally detail your new vehicle so now is a good time to inspect it again for …
- Windows for scratches, pits and cracks
- Body for “lot damage”, dents and dings
- Loose Trim
- Paint for scratches and pits
- Upholstery for scratches, cuts and stains
- Knobs or buttons on all switches
- Sticking knobs and buttons
- Misaligned body panels
- Doors, hood, trunk not opening properly
- Squeaks, rattles and other noises
Then determine if you have the following ...
- Two (2) sets of keys, sometimes sales people lose keys to the vehicles
- Owner’s manual and warranty information; these are sometimes switched between vehicles.
- Loose items e.g. floor mats, whether purchased or standard, they are also sometimes switched between vehicles.
- Spare tire
- Tire jack and handle

Buyer Tip: If you find anything damaged or missing items have the dealership complete a “Due Bill” before you leave the dealership. The Due Bill will give you the right to have these items repaired or replaced later.

OK!!!! Now you can drive off to enjoy the new member of your family.
